Social is the front door, not the website
For a large share of businesses here the site is what people check after Instagram, not before. That makes visual continuity between the two more important than a conventional homepage narrative.
Website design · West Hollywood
West Hollywood has an unusually design-literate customer. People here work in creative industries or adjacent to them, and they read a website's visual quality as a proxy for the quality of the work — faster and less charitably than customers elsewhere.
They also arrive on a phone, often from Instagram, often at night. A site that was built for a desktop visitor arriving from Google is meeting the wrong person in the wrong place.
So the build priorities invert from the usual order: the first screen on a phone carries almost all the weight, imagery has to be genuinely good rather than stock, and the path from a social profile to a booking or enquiry has to be one tap.
For a large share of businesses here the site is what people check after Instagram, not before. That makes visual continuity between the two more important than a conventional homepage narrative.
In most markets an old site costs you some conversion. Here it reads as a signal that the business itself is behind, and customers act on that inference immediately.
Decisions get made outside business hours, which means the site has to close the loop by itself. A site whose only call to action is a phone number staffed nine to five is losing most of its traffic.
